letter of the 12 instant, stating that in his letter of the 10th ulto he had informed us that the Reports which had been asked for from the Acting Govr of Hongkong & from H. M. Consul at Canton relative to the Case of the Pirate Ho-yu-tein
formed the subject of Col. Sykes' representation of the 20th of last July, should be referred to us as soon
as they should be received, & he was
accordingly. with
how directed by J. d. to transmit to us reference to that letter & to our Report of the 20th ulto, & letters from the Colonial Office, the last enclosing a Report from Acting Govr Hennessy & 2 despatches from Consul Robertson respecting the Case of this man ; & to "request that we would take the Same into our consideration & report to you our opinion thereupon.
